Mental Health and Substance Abuse in the Workplace

Mental health and substance abuse issues are on the rise following COVID-19. With more individuals requesting accommodations under the ADA and leave under the FMLA, handling these delicate issues appropriately and in compliance with the law can be a challenge for businesses.

Kathlyn Perez of Perez Law LLC will discuss:

  • The laws that apply when analyzing mental health and substance abuse issues in the workplace;
  • How to appropriately handle and document the interactive conversations;
  • The intersection of employees' rights to be protected from discrimination and handling employee misconduct and discipline; and
  • Best practices to reduce risk.
