Mission:

To advance the knowledge, skills and abilities of Wayland Baptist University, Anchorage Student Chapter of SHRM (#5583)  members by providing essential resources through education, networking, mentoring, career guidance, and HR activities.

The Student Chapter meets once a month to gain career exposure and network with Human Resource (HR) professionals. Additionally, the Chapter members plan and conduct campus student professional development seminars and community support activities. The Anchorage SHRM sponsors the Student Chapter, and the Student Chapter is affiliated with the national Society for Human Resource Management. Student members participate in activities on and off campus and learn from active HR professionals the career field of Human Resource Management and the functions of people management. 

ASHRM supported students' participation in the 2023 HR Leaders of Tomorrow in Juneau Alaska. HR professionals in Alaska are honored to host this conference in Alaska. It draws students from Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho.

WBU SHRM and ASHRM are working jointly to provide mentorship experiences through a new program, Mentor Time. The first cohort (Summer 2023) had 7 duos (mentor/mentee pairs) that will work together for three months. Interested in participating in the a future program? Summer 2024 is looking for interested mentors and mentees now. Let us know!

Students attending any university and residing in the Anchorage area are invited to join WBU SHRM #5583.
